First Day FAQs
What kind of church is Bogart?
We're a congregation of the Reformed Church in America (RCA). As typical of the Reformed liturgical tradition, our worship services follow the general pattern of Approach to God, Receiving God's Word, and Our Response to God.
We're a multi-lingual group, which means have worship in English, Spanish, and Japanese, and we have some Bible studies or fellowship times in other languages as well. Taiwanese, Mandarin, Japanese and Korean are some of the languages our members speak.
As Christians, we try to live and love like Jesus, not just on Sundays, but in our everyday lives. We're growing in faith together.
What are the worship services like?
Our Spanish worship service is a contemporary style with a praise band. Many people gather before the service for a time of prayer. The entire service is in Spanish.
Our English worship service is a blended style -- we sing both favorite hymns and contemporary praise songs (in several languages). We might use the pipe organ and violin, but we're more likely to play music on piano, guitar and drums - and we love to have kids sing! The sermon is usually spoken in English.
Our Japanese worship service starts out with multi-lingual praise time together with the English worship group in the sanctuary, and then moves to the chapel for scripture and sermon in Japanese.
Every service has singing, prayers and a sermon. We celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of every month.
Sometimes we join together for multi-lingual worship services and praise times.
We get together for coffee hour and lunch after Sunday worship. Join us in the fellowship hall.
What about my kids?
Young people participate in worship in so many ways! On Sundays, we have Sunday School for preschool and elementary age kids during the worship service. Kids join worship for the praise time, and then gather for Sunday School. We use Children and Worship and other curricula throughout the year.
Where do I park?
We have plenty of street parking on Larch Ave. and W. Fort Lee Rd. We also have a small parking lot on W. Fort Lee Rd. between Larch and Elm. We like to reserve the parking lot for families with small children, senior citizens, and people with mobility concerns.
Which door do I use?
The entrance on Larch Ave. goes directly into the sanctuary (use it for English worship). The entrance off the parking lot on W. Fort Lee Rd. gives access to all parts of the church - fellowship hall (for Spanish service), sanctuary (for English service), and all other rooms.
